How to start fire making
To create fires use a tinderbox with a log as shown below. Note you have to be outside of the buildings and not on a plant of some sort. Another method of doing fire making is to use the barbarian method of doing it which is by using a bow with the logs instead of the tinderbox, this is handy when you are ranging and need food. ( to be able to use the barbarian method you have to speak to Otto who can be found near the barbarian assault area or just above the waterfall west of the coal trucks.

Experience gained from burning logs and levels needed
Normal logs – 40xp per log ( lv 1)

Oak logs – 60 per log (lv 15)

Willow logs – 90xp per log (lv 30)

Maple logs – 135xp per log (lv 45)

Yew logs – 202.5xp per log (lv 60)

Magic logs - 303.75 per log (lv 75)

Training method
Level 1 – 15: Cut or buy some normal logs, then burn them til you get to lv 15. (This takes about 61 normal logs) A good place to cut them if you’re a member would be near the Camelot castle, if you’re a non member then a good place to cut them would be varrock near the earth altar.

Level 15-30: Cut or buy some oak logs, then burn them til you get to lv 30. (This takes about 183 oak logs) A good place to cut them if you’re a member would be near Seers bank as they are close to bank, and have an open area to burn them as well, if you’re a non member then a good place to cut them would be around the same area as the normal trees.

Level 30- 45: For these levels I recommend that you cut the willows because they are very quick to get and are good for training fire making with as well. You will need about 535 willow logs for 45, this usually takes around 30 minutes depending on your woodcutting level. A good spot to cut these would be Draynor Village for non members and barbarian assault for members, as both spots are close to banks.

Level 45- 60: I recommend that you buy the maples for these levels, although it is up to you, it is possible to continue on with willows until 60 as well. For these levels you will need around 1573 maples or 2359 willows.

Level 60 – 75: From here I recommend staying with willows or maples although, if money is not a problem for you to gain levels it is recommended that you do yews to gain the best experience at this level. For these levels you will need around 4626 yews or 6939 maples or 10408 willows.

Level 75-99: I do not recommend doing magic logs because they are too much of a waste of money compared to the other types of logs, if you want fast experience to 99 I would do yews, if you don’t have the cash for yews then stay with maples or even willows. You will need around 58, 391 yews, or 87, 586 maples or 131, 178 willow logs.
